What is Kids Voting – Guilford County ?
Kids Voting—Guilford County is the local associate of Kids Voting USA and Kids Voting North Carolina. It is a private nonprofit and nonpartisan grassroots voter education and civic participation program. The goal of the Kids Voting program is to increase informed voter participation by teaching students about the elections process and by encouraging them to become lifetime voters who are involved in their community. The program also reminds adults that voting is not only a right but a privilege to be cherished.
Students learn about the election process in school through the Kids Voting program's exciting classroom activities. Then, on Election Day,
students participate in a mock election at Kids Voting election
sites where they vote for the same candidates and issues that
appear on the adult ballot. Ballots are tabulated, and the Kids Voting election results are reported to the media just like the adult results are.
Kids Voting Mission
Kids Voting—Guilford County strives to prepare young people to be educated, engaged
citizens in order to secure the future of our democracy.
